MONDAY RECAP: COMMUNITY UPDATE

Save The Crew Updates

Save(d) The Crew:

Oh the irony. Ohio Revised Code 9.67 was created by legislators due to the Browns relocation to Baltimore. More than 20 years later, a group of investors led by the Browns ownership stated that they are in the final negotiation to purchase the Columbus Crew. This news, which previously was a dream, became a reality on Friday. We gathered on Friday at business ally Endeavor Brewing to celebrate as the saga has nearly ended, almost a year to the day from that nightmare that occurred on October 16th, 2017. Everyone involved in the Save The Crew movement, from Columbus, to across Ohio, to across the globe played a part in this success story. The doubters stated that a few “hundred” (hah) supporters would not be able to change the direction. Continue reading Monday Recap 10/15/18

Saving the Crew, One Cannoli at a Time

By Evonne Segall

You know what’s so great about volunteering with Save The Crew? You get to hang out with friends, or strangers who become friends, while talking about your favorite thing, and introducing your favorite thing to new strangers, who might become friends someday. This past weekend, several of us brought the Save The Crew tent to the Columbus Italian Festival and did just that. A huge thank you goes to Joey DiNapoli who made all the arrangements for Save The Crew to participate. I hope you got to enjoy some cannoli, brother. Italian Festival:

Members from the STC team set up a tent at this past weekend’s Columbus Italian Festival. The tent saw a lot of traffic as many people came to chat about the Crew. Some individuals reminisced about legends such as Brian McBride, while others chatted optimistically about the future of the team. The STC team gave out dozens of stickers, as many people wanted to take something home with them (perhaps, we’ll see the stickers show up in Savannah, GA). We would like to give a MASSIVE thank you to the STC volunteers, and everyone that came out to the tent to support us. Continue reading Monday Recap 10/8/18

TUESDAY RECAP: COMMUNITY UPDATE

Save The Crew Updates

2008 MLS Cup Anniversary:

As we know,  2018 marks the ten year anniversary of our first and only MLS cup victory. Goals from Ale Moreno, Chad Marshall, and Frankie Hejduk sealed the win for the Crew. On Saturday members from the 2008 championship team came to Mapfre to celebrate their anniversary. Players such as Gino Padula, William Hesmer, Frankie, and Duncan Oughton received their honors before running across the field to the Nordecke to celebrate – and to join in the “Save The Crew!” chants. These legendary players from Crew lore are a part of our club’s great history. Perhaps, in another 10 years we will celebrate the 2008 MLS Cup win AND the 2018 MLS Cup win. Save The Crew! KIPP Columbus

KIPP Columbus, “is a national network of free, open enrollment college preparatory public schools dedicated to preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and life”.  The kids from Ms. Ryal’s 9th grade soccer came out to Mapfre on Saturday to see the team. Ms. Ryal’s team gathered at the Lamar Hunt statue before kickoff. This is a team YOU not only helped fund but also then sent to this match. We appreciate the Community Assist ticket donations and look forward to sending even more kids to see our Columbus Crew win.

Bienvenidos A La Casa

Bienvenidos. Welcome.

La Casa. Home

Bienvenidos a la casa. Welcome Home.

Last Saturday night, Columbus Crew SC fans welcomed home our beloved #J9, Justin Meram, who had recently been traded back to his home in Columbus. His family — both those related by blood and others by soccer fandom — was there to greet him in full force.

1) Save the Crew, Stadium Renderings:

Last Monday, the entire Save The Crew movement reached new heights. The team released their official renderings for the stadium at a Ten Thousand Pledges celebration with special guest, Dante Washington! This could be the future home of Columbus Crew SC and we hope it spurs creativity and conversation around what can be possible. The stadium sits just west of the Huntington Ball-Park, in the Arena District. These renderings are best viewed directly. Further analysis can also be found at NBC 4, ABC 6, 10TV, and Dispatch.

Saving Our Team and Saving Lives.

By Andrew Shepler

Pelotonia weekend 2018 was a memorable one for the eight members of the #SaveTheCrew peloton riding to raise money for cancer research.

Our adventure all started the Wednesday before the ride with a peloton meetup. While meeting up at #SaveTheCrew business ally Land Grant Brewing Company, we were met with multiple yells of “Save The Crew”. I also was stopped and asked where I could get the amazing bike jersey I was wearing (and to answer the question I’m sure you have, they were a special edition just for Pelotonia and aren’t being sold). Back-To-School Supply Drive & Community Assist

Save the Crew is about keeping the Columbus Crew where they belong: in Columbus. But keeping the Crew in Columbus is about more than just having a team to root for; it’s about understanding the role a club and its supporters play in their community. From the outset, Save the Crew has been motivated by a vision of the Crew and Crew Supporters as a force for good in our city and region.

As a part of that vision, Save the Crew is proud to offer fans two opportunities to support their team and their city this weekend: Continue reading Back-To-School Supply Drive & Community Assist
