Saving the Crew is about more than soccer. It is also about community and love for our amazing city. It is about coming together in a time of turmoil and working together to better our city and community.
As a supporter of the Crew since 1996, it is hard to remember a time in Columbus without them. It also is hard to imagine what soccer would be like in Columbus if the team had never existed. From being the spiritual home of US Soccer, to Dos a Cero victories and multiple MLS cups and All-Star games hosted in town, having the Crew here in our city has helped put Columbus on the map internationally.

Soccer has always been a game for the people. Anyone is able to take a ball, bought or handmade, and get friends together to play. This accessibility and ease of entry has made it the world’s game. It forges strong connections between people, bringing together individuals and communities, and most importantly, it’s fun and entertaining. You can go anywhere in the world and talk about a soccer match with a local or find a pickup game to play in.

Making connections and creating relationships in the greater community is what Save The Crew is all about. Cleveland SC were gracious hosts last Sunday for a special Save The Crew Night at Don Shula Stadium on John Carroll University campus. Pizzaz On The Circle welcomed fans for pre-match festivities, and the good times carried over to the stadium, where the players were sporting limited edition Save The Crew pre-match tops during warm-ups. They were excited to show their support and had fun posing for photos.

For many people in Columbus, Saturday and Sunday are the weekend. Days off. Days to relax, reflect on the week, and enjoy time with family and friends.
For #SaveTheCrew, weekends are not days off, but days on. Our team is fighting to keep our team 7 days a week, and this past weekend was no exception.
On Saturday morning, several volunteers woke up early to spread the world to Columbus’ Hispanic community at the Westland Flea Market on W. Broad Street. Volunteers raffled off tickets to an upcoming game and shared information about Project 2019 and all the latest news from SaveTheCrew — todo en español.

Really, what could be better?
On Saturday, May 19, you can experience all of these and more at the first annual Columbus Taco Festival to be held from 12pm to 10pm at Genoa Park (downtown behind COSI). #SaveTheCrew has partnered with the Taco Festival and will have a booth at the event. Come out and visit your fellow #SaveTheCrew family members where we will be sharing schedules, yard signs, stickers, games, prizes, and more.

Valentine’s Day has come and gone and if you’re like me, it was just another Wednesday… but I digress.
During this holiday it’s not uncommon to see people show affection by gifting small tokens of appreciation to one another. Fans of the Black & Gold did just that with the help of Save The Crew business ally Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream.
